Andrew Richards is native to Phoenix, Arizona, and a proud member of the Cherokee Nation. He moved to become a member of the Staatsoper Berlin in 2005. After singing leading roles in theatres like The Metropolitan, Covent Garden, Vienna Staatsoper and La Scala, Andrew took a performing hiatus in 2017. He returned to the stage after Covid in the Heldentenor Rep.
Prior to being a professional opera singer, Andrew led children’s choirs at San Mateo Presbyterian, then later became Associate Minister of Music conducting the teen and adult choirs at La Jolla Presbyterian in San Diego. While studying singing in Pittsburgh in the early 90’s he was the tenor soloist and then Worship Leader for Sewickley Episcopal, a large charismatic congregation outside of Pittsburgh.
